Kimball is Principal for the KAIZEN® Institute New Zealand and focuses particularly on analytical support for KAIZEN® projects. His industry experience includes Services; Process Manufacturing; Discreet Manufacturing; as well as Distribution and Logistics. Current and recent clients’ projects include Venture Capital; Retail and Distribution; Tertiary Education Provision; Utilities and Process Manufacturing.
After obtaining a B.Com (Hons) and LL.B from Otago University, Kimball spent two years with the Investment Banking team at Bank of New Zealand and then joined Southpac in the merchant banking division. In 1993 he moved into the corporate world and spent the next six years on strategic development projects for Fletcher Challenge in the Building division. In that time he also gained experience in plant and site management with the company’s particleboard operations. Between 2000 and 2002 Kimball was the project manager and lead negotiator for the councils of Auckland in the three-way negotiation with Tranz Rail and Treasury to procure the rail corridors and enable the expansion of public transport in Auckland.
In 2002 Kimball moved into the consulting world. Since then, he has been engaged by a number of large New Zealand businesses to work on financial modelling projects, developing strategic level plans for significant growth projects. He has also worked on operational improvement projects for companies.
Having worked with KAIZEN® Institute on a variety of projects, in 2008 Kimball accepted a position as Principal for the KAIZEN® Institute New Zealand.
